Sponsored and Faciltiated by the Poverty Initiative in cooperation with Field Education staff


Learn from leaders of poor people’s organizations, including Union’s Scholar-in-Residence, Willie Baptist, how to build relationships with poor people in the community; gain skills for organizing around issues of health care, housing, education, food and living wage jobs; explore models for developing leaders who are committed to ending poverty; and study lessons for community organizing and movement building from social movements in history. Special attention will be given to Martin Luther King Jr. and his leadership and involvement in the 1968 Poor People’s Campaign.
